Google is rolling out Google Vids, an AI-powered video creation application for work to most of its customers starting today.
In a blog post on 21 November, the Vice President, Product Management, Google Workspace, Kristina Behr said the application will now be available to customers on the Google Workspace Business, Enterprise, Education, and Gemini add-on plans.
About Vids
Google has several collaboration apps for work, including Docs, Sheets, and Slides, and Vids is a video addition to such work apps. Built with generative AI, It is useful for storytelling at work using video content.
The app makes it easier for all employees to access such video contents as it doesn’t require any special skills or separate software licenses to work. With an intuitive scene-based editor and familiar workflows for commenting and sharing, Vids makes video creation simpler than ever.
Vids is another app that uses Gemini to create content, and can be used easily with the “Help me create” feature. With this prompt and content from Google Drive, it generates the first draft of the video.
It also provides suggested media, text, scripts, and background music to help users map out a narrative. Users who already have a storyline in mind can also browse a range of high-quality video templates organized by use case.
Also with a built-in recording studio, users who are uncomfortable on camera or unsure where to start can easily create video content as well.
To help users create videos with confidence, Vids comes with Suggested scripts per scene, provided by Gemini.
It also has a variety of professional-sounding preset AI voiceovers that can be easily inserted, and Rolling or read-along teleprompter to help users to confidently connect with their audience.
Google harnessing AI
Google has harnessed the power of AI in many ways to improve its platforms this year, with Gemini. The most recent use case is for creating images in Google Doc, which the company rolled out just last week.
Earlier, Google also introduced new Gems for Gemini Advanced users. Gems are just customized versions of Gemini that can be applied to handle repetitive tasks.
