Euro NCAP has awarded Best Performer title for 2024 to Mercedes Benz E-Class, according to the latest ratings data released.
In a tweet on 15 January, Euro NCAP announced Mercedes Benz, alongside other vehicles that have won in different categories.
The safety rating agency tested cars from different countries, and cars from China, Germany, and Japan topped the categories with Mercedes Benz E-Class being the overall best.
How the ratings work
The Euro NCAP rates cars based on several factors, including the safety of adult occupants, child occupants, pedestrians, and availability of safety assist.
Mercedes Benz E-Class achieved the best overall score, which is a weighted average of the four safety categories that Euro NCAP’s experts assess.
Under the adult occupant category, the vehicle scored 92%, child occupant was 90%, pedestrian was 84%, and safety assist had 87%.
Euro NCAP is an agency that tests vehicles for their safety using these categories. The requirements for the tests become more strict every year, making it more difficult for vehicles to emerge as winners.
Dr. Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary General Euro NCAP said:
“The automotive industry had a challenging year in 2024 marked by weak consumer confidence and difficult economic conditions. Given these difficulties, Euro NCAP finds it especially encouraging that car makers continue to place significant emphasis on safety innovation and equipping cars with the newest safety systems. This firmly places consumer safety at the forefront of automobile design, as it ought to be.”
The Mercedes Benz E-Class winning this award indicates that it has developed high safety standards that make it a trusted vehicle to use.
Mercedes Benz progress
Mercedes Benz is a popular premium car brand that has won the hearts of millions around the world.
Apart from securing the NCAP overall best safety rating, the company also secured Level 3 autonomous driving with 95 km/h last year, further increasing its already good standing.
