As the automotive industry races towards a fully electric future, Dubai Police has taken notice and is keeping up by recently introducing the all-electric Lotus Emeya-S into its luxury patrol fleet with an aim to better serve and protect the general public.
Indeed, the Tourist Police Department under the General Department of Criminal Investigation has officially welcomed the luxury supercar into its force during the World Police Summit in the Dubai World Trade Center, according to the information shared with Techgaged.com on May 15.
Lotus Emeya-S supercar details
Specifically, the Lotus Emeya-S can cover up to 600 kilometers (373 miles) on a single charge and reaches speeds of up to 250 km/h (155 mph), going from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.2 seconds. It features autonomous driving capabilities, cutting-edge digital interfaces, and a modern, futuristic design.
Commenting on the development, Expert Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri pointed out that advanced vehicles such as the fully electric Lotus Emeya-S aid in Dubai Police’s operational strategy. Notably, they increase visibility in popular tourist destinations like Burj Khalifa, Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, and Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR). As he said:
“Integrating smart and sustainable vehicles reflects Dubai Police’s forward-looking vision and strengthens our interaction with the community by providing support, information, and a sense of security.”
Meanwhile, Ramzi Al Atat, the Regional Marketing and PR Director at Lotus, shared his company’s enthusiasm regarding the introduction of the Emeya-S into the Dubai Police, stressing that it was the result of a “shared dedication to eco-conscious innovation,” demonstrating how “electric mobility can contribute to public service.”
Earlier this year, during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) event, also held at Dubai World Center, Dubai Police presented another addition to its luxury patrol fleet – a Rolls-Royce Cullinan uniquely customized by automotive specialist firm Mansory.
As it happens, police forces around the world are following the newest trends in technology, including advances in artificial intelligence (AI), with Beijing onboarding unmanned vehicles and intelligent robotic dogs into its patrols, particularly the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town).
