Crypto Analyst Predicts Mass Altcoin Failure in 2026

The year 2025 has been rough for crypto assets, especially altcoins which have suffered more in the persistent downtrend. As bad as the situation has been, it seems things will potentially get worse for most altcoins in 2026.

According to crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe, many altcoins will not survive in 2026. He referred to the past year during which several projects were launched with strong starts but have crashed, implying that more of such project failures will happen in the coming year, especially if the weak market trend persists. 

A Bold 2026 Prediction Against Altcoins

Data and analysts have severally pointed to 2026 as the year that favors crypto assets, especially altcoins. After hitting a new low in its Relative Strength Index (RSI), analysts say altcoins are probably ready for a trend reversal. This is because hitting such a level shows exhaustion and the only way from there is upward.

Similarly, a rare indicator known as Russel 2000 recently flashed a green signal for altcoins. This is a metric that tracks the performance of the 2000 smallest stocks, and its bullish trend has historically been followed by altcoins. Therefore, analysts believe that it has also indicated a potential altcoin rally.

With these indicators and predictions, Poppe’s prediction of mass deaths for crypto in 2026 is incredibly bold, and suggests he must know something that most people don’t. However, the exhaustion that altcoins were exposed to in 2025 may be enough reason to suspect more deaths in 2026.

Most altcoins have dropped to price levels not seen in over a year despite the volatility of the market. With the persistent downward move, some analysts have accused whales of manipulating the market to make huge profits while liquidating leveraged traders. 

Altcoin Season Expectations Dimmed

One of the biggest consolations that crypto investors have held onto is the hope of an altcoin season. This is a period of time during which altcoins outperform Bitcoin, bringing many investors huge gains.

With Poppe’s anticipation of a bloody altcoin year in 2026, the hope for an altcoin season will be dashed for many if his prediction plays out. Fingers remain crossed though, as the crypto market can come with surprises when least expected.
