China has become the first country in the world to produce 10 million electric vehicles in one year.
According to reports on 26 December, the country attained the feat as of 14 November 2024, placing it far ahead of any other country.
At this rate, China now accounts for two-third of all EV sales in the world, and has met the 20235 goal of EV sales target 10 years early as it intends to sell more EVs than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles in 2025.
Ahead of Europe and America
As the world tends towards electric vehicles, there has been a quiet war between Europe, America and China in EV production in recent years.
Clearly, China is ahead of the two competitors with the attainment of 10 million EVs in 2024. According to data from CFR, the country has also exported more EVs than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles as of August 2024.
While already 36% of all car sales in China are now electric, it is expected that the sale of EV will outpace that of ICE vehicles by 2025.
It doesnāt stop there though, it is estimated that China has 70% more EVs on the road than Europe and America combined, which is a significant victory considering the ongoing competition for dominance in the EV industry.
Leading in climate war
At the heart of the quest for EV dominance is the fight against climate change and global warming, which climate activists have been advocating for years.
With this major milestone, China is far ahead of the world in the fight against climate change and global warming by significantly reducing the amount of Carbon in the air with the manufacture and sale of electric vehicles both locally and internationally.
