Coinbase just handed Chainlink one of its most visible institutional endorsements of 2026.
The move makes Chainlink the official price feed behind millions of dollars in tokenized equities sitting on Base, and it arrives at a moment when the tokenized stock market is growing faster than almost any other corner of crypto.

What Coinbase Actually Chose Chainlink For
Coinbase announced on August 24, 2026, that it has selected Chainlink as the official oracle infrastructure powering its newly launched Tokenized Stocks on Base, confirmed directly in Chainlink’s official documentation.
Chainlink Data Feeds now supply continuous pricing for tokens including NVDAc, METAc, AAPLc, and GOOGLc.
Each token is backed 1:1 by a real share held in regulated custody with Alpaca under the Abu Dhabi Global Market framework.
On day one, Aave, Morpho, and Euler launched integrations that let holders borrow against their equity positions. Aerodrome also integrated as a liquidity pool from launch.
Why An Oracle Selection Matters More Than It Sounds
Oracles are the piece most people ignore until something goes wrong. A lending protocol that uses a stale or manipulated price feed can liquidate positions incorrectly or leave bad debt on its books.
Coinbase’s explicit selection of Chainlink as the designated feed is a public statement about where it places trust at the infrastructure layer.
One nuance worth noting: Chainlink classifies these feeds as 24/5, meaning they freeze during weekends and corporate actions while the tokens themselves trade 24/7.
Base’s own technical documentation instructs integrators to apply staleness bounds before relying on the price, and includes a fail-safe that freezes the feed during stock splits until both the underlying price and multiplier align correctly.
A Pattern Of Institutional Trust That Has Been Building
Chainlink didn’t arrive at this moment without a track record. Techgaged reported in February that a former Chainlink Labs executive joined the SEC’s crypto task force as chief counsel.
The move signaled Chainlink’s legal expertise was earning institutional credibility beyond just protocol integrations.
Separately, Techgaged covered how Nethermind’s migration from LayerZero to Chainlink’s CCIP brought one of Ethereum’s most trusted infrastructure firms into the Chainlink network as a node operator and technology partner.
Holding $11 While The Market Watches The Next Integration
LINK trades at $11.27 as of the latest CoinGecko reading on August 26, 2026 (10:00 UTC), up 15.2% over the past seven days.

Price climbed from roughly $9.50 on August 20 to a peak above $12.20 on August 22 before pulling back to consolidate near $11.25.
The peak coincided almost exactly with the Nethermind and Coinbase announcements landing in the same week.
Watch whether LINK holds above $11 as the broader market consolidates. A sustained hold above that level into September would suggest the market is treating recent partnership announcements as structural demand rather than short-term catalysts.
