Google has made changes to its AI services including on Google Shopping where it has improved users’ shopping experience. The company has brought a new feature that makes the experience even better.
According to an announcement on 8 October, Google Shopping has gotten a new AI feature that allows users to try the sizes of shoes online before buying.
Known as “try on” tech, the feature allows users to try on different items without having to leave their homes, and is rolling out to many countries Australia, Canada and Japan.
Shopping made easy
One of the challenges of online shopping is that one cannot tell for sure if a particular clothing or shoes will fit if they order them.
Oftentimes, this leads to several back and forth returns before the customer finally gets what they want, but these days are over.
With the “try on” technology, AI can accurately perceive shapes and depths, helping it to only suggest items that will fit the user’s body shape and size.
Users in the U.S. have been using the feature, trying clothes online and now shoes have been added.
To try shoes, the user just needs to tap on a listing, select the “try it on” button and add a full-length photo of themselves.
Within moments, the platform will show them a picture of what they might look like in footwear they are interested in. This helps users to make informed decisions when purchasing footwear online.
Google’s AI adventure
Google has made much progress in the area of AI development, implementing it across its products and services but this has not come without criticisms.
The AI search overview for example is one aspect of Google’s AI that has been highly criticized, but this hasn’t deterred the company.
It recently rolled out the feature to more regions, allowing users to see AI search summaries in different local languages.
