BMW has reopened its exhibition museum, BMW Welt, and also launched a mobile app to give customers access to virtual tours.
A press release on 10 February shows the company closed the museum for an extensive renovation and is finally reopening it to give customers an exciting brand experience.
An exciting journey ahead
The reopening also marks the beginning of a lineup of exciting events and experiences ahead that visitors can look forward to. Head of BMW Welt, Sandra Wittemer said:
“ One of the highlights is the BMW Welt app, which will be available at the end of February and will allow visitors to discover our museum in a completely new, immersive way. Virtual tours, gamification and detailed information about our vehicles make it the ideal companion for a visit to BMW Welt. We have also made many technological and technical optimisations to improve existing attractions and offers.”
With the app, users can turn a tour of BMW Welt into an interactive and informative adventure. Guests can go on a virtual tour with 16 stations, having an AI avatar as a personal tour guide.
With the touch of a button, users can start a tour at any time and determine both the starting point and the pace of their own tour.
In addition, there are two languages available for guiding international audiences through event areas and exhibits if required.
During the tour, users can have a digital 360° model of any car that catches their fancy right on their smartphone. The app also provides attractive offers and discounts for the shop, restaurants and car hire.
It also functions as a quiz, a scavenger hunt, and the MINI Arcade as part of a major raffle.
Much fun for the week
Throughout the reopening week, the BMW Isetta on display will be driven through BMW Welt several times a day to hand out free gingerbread hearts to all guests and they can take photos with it.
On Valentine’s Day, the kiss cam in the red BMW X3 and the Valentine’s photo backdrop in the MINI area will be available for couples to take photos together.
The renovated museum space comes with new exhibition areas and business space with much to explore such as the newly designed BMW area and the BMW Welt Business Center.
BMW Welt’s reopening also marks the beginning of BMW’s programs for the year, including a yoga programme which will continue from 22 February, children’s concert, and much more.
