As the gaming lineup keeps getting longer with a constant stream of new titles coming out or being announced, developers have confirmed another game in the Call of Duty universe – Black Ops 7, which is scheduled for release on consoles and PC.
Specifically, Activision, Treyarch, and Raven Software are launching the next evolution of their Black Ops franchise, which they referred to as the “most mind-bending Black Ops” to date, according to the announcement by Call of Duty Staff shared on its blog on June 8.
Indeed, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is the first-ever consecutive release within the series and takes place over 40 years after the events in Black Ops 6, in the year 2035. As the team explained, “the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by violent conflict and psychological warfare following the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6.”
Mind-bending Black Ops 7
The things that make Black Ops 7 truly mind-bending, as its creators have called it, include the protagonist seemingly experiencing a fragmented consciousness in which a cityscape transitions to fold in on itself, a TV set laughing at them, red butterflies made of data, and talking robot butlers.
Moreover, the next installment of Call of Duty will also provide players with options to team up with friends or play solo in a co-op campaign, alongside a multiplayer mode featuring totally new maps, and the subsequent chapter of the round-based Zombies mode. Per the announcement:
“Wielding cutting-edge technology, the Black Ops team led by David Mason must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else.”
Furthermore, in the words of Tyler Bahl, Head of Activision Publishing Marketing, the game’s developers intended to “build on the incredible community enthusiasm and excitement we’ve seen within the Black Ops universe.”
As he added, this was the first time that the team is staying within the Black Ops series with back-to-back releases, giving players more time to enjoy all the live seasons and “more of what they want across Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone” before turning the page to Black Ops 7.
Still, there’s no release date for Black Ops 7 yet, but when it does come out, you’ll be able to get it for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. While you wait, there are other things to immerse yourself into, such as Elden Ring: Nightreign, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake, and others.
