Bing to provide live updates on U.S. elections – check how it works
Bing has deployed a new platform to provide users with live updates concerning the upcoming U.S. elections.
In a blog published on 30 October, the team said the live updates will include both presidential and state elections to deliver real-time election results, voting information, the latest news, and more.
The top web browser said the gesture is in line with its focus on providing users with swift, straightforward ways to find the information they need from a variety of sources and content.
How it works
As the election date of 5th November approaches, Bing is delivering access to key information on elections such as polling, outcomes of state primaries, as well as live news.
There is also a module included to help voters get more information about how to vote in their respective states.
To use it, users need to click the module or search “How to vote” for information on how to vote in their respective states.
On election day, Bing also has a 2024 United States Election interactive map to ensure you never miss any information you need.
With many more filters added, users can sort by Senate, House and gubernatorial races or simply hover over their desired state or county, to get more information.
There’s also state-wide elected offices, such as State House, State Senate, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General, as well as ballot measures.
With the map, users can tell the candidate’s leads and see if there is an active race, swing state, or if results are still to come.
Next to the map is a side pane that provides a snapshot of overall results, with both electoral and popular vote results for the presidential election being shown.
Users who wish to see state-level information can do so by simply selecting drop down boxes.
Extending to mobile
Previous election information has been restricted to desktop users. This year, Bing is expanding this election day experience to mobile users as well.
This is to ensure that everyone interested in election information gets it at their fingertips. Even after the voting is done, the map will remain and will be updated as final votes come in.
