Several weeks after revealing Audi 6 in Avant and Sedan models, the popular luxury carmaker has introduced the plug-in hybrid variants for both, and they’re powerful as you’d expect, boasting acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 5.3 seconds.
Indeed, Audi launched the new A6 Avant and Sedan as e-hybrid quattro, each coming in two power levels with up to 106 kilometers (65.87 miles) of electric range, all-wheel steering, high-voltage battery, smart recuperation strategy, and intelligent hybrid management, per a press release from May 6.
Audi A6 plug-in hybrid specifications
Specifically, buyers can order their A6 Avant e-hybrid quattro and the A6 Sedan e-hybrid quattro in the 220 kW and 270 kW system output levels, with the new battery having about 45% more capacity than its predecessor, providing 25.9 kWh for electric driving.
Furthermore, both have a 2.0 TFSI engine with an output of 185 kW (252 PS) and an electric motor that delivers up to 105 kW. The versions with 270 kW and 500 Nm of torque can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in mere 5.3 seconds, while the 200 kW and 450 Nm-torque vehicles take 6 seconds.
Meanwhile, the high-voltage battery, which allows the new plug-in hybrid A6 Avant and the Sedan to drive over 100 kilometers on electric power only, uses the maximum AC charging power of 11 kW, taking just 2.5 hours to charge it to 100%.
In terms of hybrid management, there are two operating systems – ‘EV’ and ‘hybrid.’ The former allows the plug-in models to run on electric power, while the latter maintains a specific charge level necessary to save enough electric energy for later use. The user can choose between them with a digital slider.
Finally, the quattro ultra drive, standard all-wheel steering, and the electrified dual-clutch transmission provide increased agility and stability at all speeds. Add more tightly sealed windows and optimized door seals, and you’re getting improved driving comfort and 30% better sound insulation than before.
Elsewhere, Audi’s China-exclusive ringless brand AUDI has launched its first model – the all-electric E5 Sportback – with up to 579 kW of power and a maximum range of 770km, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 3.4 seconds.
