As the innovations in the automotive industry continue at full speed and manufacturers keep up with the trends, Aston Martin has just become the first carmaker in the world to integrate Apple CarPlay Ultra for iPhone users driving its vehicles.
Indeed, Aston Martin is bringing Apple CarPlay Ultra, the next generation of CarPlay, to its Supercar of SUVs, DBX, and the brand’s core sportscar range in what is the deeper integration between Aston Martin and iPhone, according to a press release from May 15.
Commenting on the newest development, Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark shared his company’s enthusiasm at the partnership with Apple, while explaining that:
“Building on our in-house state-of-the-art infotainment system, CarPlay Ultra will provide additional functionality and personalisation opportunities which place Aston Martin at the forefront of infotainment in the sector.”
What Apple CarPlay Ultra brings to Aston Martin drivers
Specifically, CarPlay Ultra displays real-time information across both the infotainment touchscreen and the instrument board, extending it with a number of seamlessly designed options for the speedometer and tachometer dials that drivers can choose from.
Plus, it adds the ability to display maps and media in full screen, as well as provides drivers with a way to curate their own multi-screen setup and the freedom to modify the layout. Furthermore, drivers can select their own instrument cluster theme and customize colors and wallpapers.
And that’s not all. You can also control functions like radio and climate directly from CarPlay Ultra using touchscreen controls, physical buttons, or Siri. There’s also the option to add widgets powered by iPhone that fit Aston Martin’s 10.25-inch infotainment screen or instrument cluster.
Naturally, the system offers complete online connectivity, while the PureBlack touchscreen tech supports full capacitive single and multi-finger gesture control. Of course, physical buttons are still there for the key mechanical operations, including gear selection, drive mode, heating, and ventilation.
Finally, override switches for Chassis, ESP and Exhaust, Lane Assist, and Park Distance Control keep the most used controls always at hand in case they’re needed.
When and where can you get it?
Initially, the CarPlay Ultra will launch for users in the US and Canada on the Supercar of SUVs’ DBX, as well as Aston Martin’s core sportscars, Vantage, DB12, and Vanquish, and the company expects it to reach global markets over the next 12 months.
The system, for which you’ll need an iPhone 12 or later and iOS 18.5 or newer, is coming to all new vehicle orders starting May 15 in the US and Canada as standard, while existing models will receive it as an update in the coming weeks through the carmaker’s dealer network.
Meanwhile, the previous Apple CarPlay has become a standard addition to many car brands and models, including the Subaru 2026 Outback SUV-wagon hybrid, and as an update in some motorcycles, such as the Honda Gold Wing 2025 lineup.
