Meta recently announced plans to build AI-driven human robots, which has attracted critical comments from internet users who think it’s another scam.
Responding to a Reddit post on the proposed plan on 14 February, Redditors said the project may be yet another scam only focused on pumping stocks just like what every other tech company does.
The race for humanoid robots
Several big tech companies have delved into the world of humanoid robots. One of them is the chip company Nvidia which recently announced its plans for this shift.
Meta is the latest of the tech giants to announce plans to build similar robots, an idea that some internet users don’t agree with. For some, it is nothing more than a way to just make shareholders rich.
“I assume it’s yet another scam since it’s a scamtech company. Mark Zuckerberg is one of the biggest crooks to ever live, so there’s absolutely no reason to think he’s being honest this time. It’s just some kind of trick to pump the stock up like all of these scamtech companies do. If Mark delivers something more than a PR puff piece of trash, then let me know.”
Reports say that Meta’s primary focus is building humanoid hardware targeting house chores and subsequently software to power robots built by other companies.
This doesn’t sit well with some people who believe robots are taking over human jobs which is unacceptable.
“I hope they fail. We don’t have enough jobs for humans to take, I really don’t see the point in creating human-like robots for household chores. Just wash your dishes like a normal human lol”
The company is already in talks with robotics companies, including Unitree Robotics and Figure AI on the project.
