Analysts Turn Bearish as Bitcoin Weekly Close Spells Doom

In Brief

  • • Bitcoin’s weekly close below the 50-week EMA has shifted market sentiment sharply bearish.
  • • Analysts say the coming weeks will be crucial as Bitcoin must regain lost technical levels.
  • • Market fear is elevated and sentiment remains negative, but some analysts see hope.

As Bitcoin closed below the 50-week exponential moving average (EMA), analysts have concluded that a bear market is in full force. The weekly close has turned the 50 EMA into a resistance which poses a fresh challenge to Bitcoin.

One analyst in an X post stated just hours before the weekly close that closing below this key level will make the price behavior over the next weeks highly critical in defining Bitcoin’s future.

At the moment, traders are turning their sentiment to bearish, opening shorts to maximize gains in the market.

Next Few Weeks to Determine Bitcoin’s Direction

Having lost the critical 50-week EMA, Bitcoin has made a decisive shift to the bearish, but that isn’t as important as what it will do next.

According to the analysts, the asset needs to gain enough upside within the next few weeks for it to reclaim that level and prepare for an upward move.

This drop also coincided with a death cross which happened last in April for Bitcoin, and the next few weeks will also determine how long the asset remains in this cross.

At the moment, the sentiment is highly negative as confirmed by the Fear and Greed Index which is currently at 14, a level bitcoin reached last in February.

What Is Next for Investors?

With the prevailing market condition, Bitcoin investors are in a trying moment that could also determine the future of their investments.

While some may be tempted to sell at a breakeven or worse, another crypto analyst advises patience and caution, adding that the crash won’t last forever.

While this analyst may be right, it is not certain how long this will last before Bitcoin and the wider crypto market recover from the bloodbath.
