Global retail giant Amazon has extended its coverage by launching a dedicated website for its Irish customers.
In a news release on 18 March, the company said that the new website, amazon.ie is going live starting today, giving Irish customers access to a wide selection of over 200 million products and fast deliveries.
This new expansion also brings access to Amazon Prime membership for Ireland.
Bringing Amazon closer
The launch of Amazon in Ireland makes it much easier for Irish citizens to buy goods on the renowned platform.
Going forward, they will enjoy One-Day Delivery on millions of products, and can browse products with clear, local pricing and without additional customs charges.
Amazon also intends to create a dedicated “Brands of Ireland” page that gives users access to local Irish brands to support local businesses as well.
Similarly, customers can join Prime on amazon.ie for just €6.99 per month and enjoy the very best of shopping, savings, and entertainment.
Customers who already have UK Prime memberships don’t have to worry, as they can easily switch to amazon.ie and enjoy up to 30-day free trial of Amazon.ie Prime with other customers.
They will also automatically have their UK Prime membership canceled and refunded. Alison Dunn, Ireland country manager at Amazon said:
“Our teams across the country are unbelievably proud and incredibly excited to launch Amazon.ie. The store brings a wide selection of great value products with fast delivery to customers in Ireland, a local Prime membership with incredible benefits and savings, and lots of opportunities for Irish businesses to reach more customers. We have been building towards this moment since the launch of our fulfillment center in Dublin in 2022, and we can’t wait to write the next chapter of our story in Ireland.”
Amazon innovation
Apart from expanding to new grounds, Amazon has been growing in innovation as well. The company recently started drone delivery in the UK.
Considering the proximity of the UK and Ireland, such innovation may quickly spread to Irish customers now that the official website has gone live.
