- Alibaba has unveiled Qwen App, an AI assistant designed to bring AI capabilities to users.
- The app combines productivity and everyday utility features, with integrations planned.
- Its launch marks a stronger push by Alibaba in the increasingly competitive global AI landscape.
Chinese tech giant Alibaba has unveiled an all-in-one AI app powered by its latest model, Qwen3. Known as Qwen App, the new application will support AI capabilities on the front end for regular users in real life applications and tools.
In an announcement, the company said users will enjoy services such as deep research, coding, camera features, voice calls, and more.
Chinese residents can now access the beta version of the app freely on iOS, Android, web and PC platforms, while a version for users outside China will roll out later on.
Alibaba’s AI Gateway to Daily Life
Alibaba describes the app as a gateway to daily life, and a “smart personal assistant that not only chats but gets things done.”
It cites an example with the app’s ability to generate a full research report and automatically produce a polished, multi-slide PowerPoint presentation in seconds, showing strong task execution capabilities.
The app is the result of the company’s efforts towards development of foundational models and AI-native applications as one of its core areas of AI strategy.
In the future, more core lifestyle and productivity services such as digital maps, food delivery, travel booking, office tools, e-commerce, education, and health guidance will be added to the app.
Alibaba Heating up the AI Race
The AI race has been on for a few years now and is getting more intense, especially as Alibaba is entering it with its own chatbot at this time.
With the features that Qwen App is expected to get, it could become a major competitor against big names like ChatGPT which also just integrated group chat.
This will put China ahead of the U.S. in the AI war, giving it the potential to win eventually if the U.S. doesn’t step up fast.
