Zcash is having a strong month, with the privacy-focused cryptocurrency trading at $818.85, up an impressive 75.4% over the past 30 days according to CoinGecko data.
At the same time, a major technical upgrade is improving performance across wallets built on the Zakura stack, giving the network another development to watch beyond its recent price surge.
Price Action Shows Sustained Strength
The 30-day chart reveals a clear breakout. Zcash spent much of early August consolidating around the $470–$520 range before accelerating higher from mid-month.
Price pushed through $600 and $700 with strong momentum, briefly approached $900, and is now holding around the $800–$820 area.

The scale of the advance highlights renewed market interest in one of crypto’s longest-standing privacy-focused networks.
Zakura Common Delivers Major Speed Gains
The Zakura Common upgrade introduces performance improvements across several core cryptographic operations.
According to the Zakura team, the new release delivers 14x faster proving, 21x faster hashing, 1.5x faster trial decryption and 4–8x faster verification.
New releases of Zakura and wallets integrating Zakura Common, including Vizor Wallet, can benefit from these improvements.

Faster cryptographic operations reduce the computational demands of shielded transactions, potentially making private transfers smoother and more practical.
TechGaged reported that Zcash had closed four security gaps in its Zebra 6.3.0 upgrade, highlighting the network’s continued focus on strengthening its underlying infrastructure.
Why Performance Matters for Privacy Coins
Privacy protocols have long faced a difficult balance between strong confidentiality and user experience. Heavy cryptographic workloads can make transactions slower and more demanding, creating friction for users and developers.
By accelerating critical operations, Zakura Common addresses part of that challenge. Faster proving and verification can make wallets more responsive while allowing applications built around the stack to deliver a smoother experience.
TechGaged also reported on an AI discovery involving a four-year-old Zcash bug, underscoring the importance of ongoing technical scrutiny as the network evolves.
Connecting the Dots
The timing of the upgrade alongside Zcash’s sharp 30-day rally is notable.
While price movements can be influenced by many factors, technical improvements that make a protocol more efficient can strengthen its long-term usability.
A faster shielded experience could therefore help reinforce Zcash’s position as a practical privacy network rather than simply a technology experiment.
What to Look Forward To
Zcash now has both strong market momentum and meaningful technical progress to build on.
The key developments to watch will be wallet adoption of Zakura Common, real-world performance improvements and continued activity across the Zcash ecosystem.
If the new stack delivers the expected efficiency gains at scale, improved usability could become an important part of Zcash’s next phase of growth.
